Welcome to
Our Practice:
Welcome to Memphis Medical Specialists and thank you for choosing
our practice for your healthcare needs. This site contains general
information about our physicians, appointment scheduling, office procedures, and prescription
refills.
Appointment
Scheduling:
Patients are seen in our office by appointment Monday through Friday,
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our staff of receptionists are available to schedule
your appointments from 9:00 am to 4:30 p.m. each day. Scheduling
may be done by calling, 901-761-2100 or 901-683-4863.
We try our best to stay on schedule; however, emergencies at the
hospital at times prevent our physicians from meeting all their
scheduling demands. We will make every effort to remain on schedule,
but we ask for your patience if you are delayed in seeing your physician.
If the physician is seriously delayed, we try to notify you before
your arrival. We do, however, stay on schedule most of the time
and ask that you assist us and other patients by being on time for
your appointment.
Your Appointment:
If you are a new patient to our practice or have changes in your
address/phone or new insurance information, please try to arrive
15 to 30 minutes early for your visit. At that time we will ask
you to fill out a registration form (new patients) or give us updated
information. Please be prepared to provide us with complete employment
and insurance information, the name and phone number of an emergency
contact for you, copies of your insurance cards, and a list of any
current medication, which you are taking. A new patient form can be printed from the website.
Canceling
An Appointment:
If you are unable to keep your appointment or are going to be late,
please call our office as soon as possible. This courtesy allows
us to schedule other patients who otherwise we are unable to see.
Please call us at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment
to cancel.
Referrals:
Our physician staff provides care as both specialists and primary
care doctors. If your insurance requires a referral to a specialist,
please make absolutely sure that your referring physician has provided
the necessary form. Many insurance companies do not allow payment
for visits to specialists when the referral is dated even one day
late. If you are seeing one of our primary care physicians, please
verify that one of our physicians is whom your insurance company
identifies as your PCP.
Emergency
Care:
If you have an urgent medical problem or need medication, please
call for assistance during regular office hours. After office hours,
our emergency on-call number is 901-542-2411. This answering service
which will contact the physician on call who will then return your
call as soon as possible.
Please realize that the physician on call may not be your personal
physician and may not have immediate access to your hospital or
office records. If you feel that your condition is critical and
requires immediate attention, please go to the emergency room of
your nearest hospital. The emergency room has the equipment and
personnel to deal with life threatening conditions. The emergency
room physician will then contact your physician from Memphis Medical
Specialists for follow-up care. Again, if your condition is not
an emergency, please contact our office during normal office hours.
Fees and
Payments:
Our fees for the services provided to you vary with severity and
complexity of your medical problem. We ask that you be prepared
to pay any applicable co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance amounts
at the time of your service. If you are a self-pay patient, we ask
for payment in full at your time of service. We accept cash, check,
and credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
Insurance:
We participate with nearly all insurance plans. Please remember
that we must have any current insurance information changes or updates
before you see the physician at each visit. As a courtesy to you,
we file your insurance claims directly to your insurance carriers,
both primary and secondary. If your primary and secondary insurance
carriers are slow to pay, we may ask you for help in speeding up
this process. Please remember that the insurance company works for
you because you pay the premium; and you are ultimately responsible
for seeing that the provider received payment for services provided.
Phone Calls:
You may need to phone our office to request medication refills,
to discuss outpatient testing, or to speak with your doctor. All
calls to our office are returned as soon as possible. Our registered
nurses will return your call to discuss medications, treatment scheduling
or options, or any other medical problems that your care necessitates.
Our physicians consider communication with their patients very important
and to that end, ask that you cooperate fully in allowing the nurse
to triage your problems and coordinate your care with your physician.
